In today's fast-paced business landscape, it's becoming increasingly crucial for companies to clarify their purpose.

Though the Great Resignation may be over, companies are experiencing a fierce war for talent, grappling with challenges like “quiet quitting,” and navigating increased expectations of new and upcoming generations of employees. According to McKinsey, 85% of senior management agree they can live their purpose in their day-to-day work while only 15% of frontline managers agree.

This doesn’t bode well for Gen Z who place a high value on meaningful work and careers with a positive impact. Most likely to quit if unsatisfied at work, they are also demanding more than other generations when it comes to work including, higher pay, more flexibility, mental health days, and greater work-life balance. As companies undergo a transformative shift from being product-driven to purpose-driven, the question of "why" they exist becomes paramount.

Rather than a conventional "how to" manual, this guide takes you on an inspiring story of a company that embarks on the path to defining its purpose. Through this narrative, you will gain insights into the key questions, challenges, and steps involved in uncovering your own purpose. Complete with practical application questions, our Corporate Purpose Guide offers a comprehensive framework to help you navigate this journey.

Our guide will position you for greater impact and prepare you to acquire and retain top talent

McKinsey research shows that 70% of employees say their personal sense of purpose is defined by their work, and employees who live their purpose at work are 2.6X more likely to want to stay at the company, and 1.5X more likely to go above and beyond.

Over time, embarking on the corporate purpose journey leads to higher employee retention, increased productivity, and can boost profitability. Assuming a starting attrition rate of 20% (below 2021 US average), a decrease of only 2-3% as the result of a greater sense of purpose would make the net present value (NPV) of a consistent investment in purpose positive, with a 19% Internal Rate of Return in one example.

That sounds like a strong business case!
